  1. So, just curious - do you have the full orchestral parts or do you work from an excerpt book(s)?

  2. I have many but not all of the full parts. I'm working on these for an audition, and it just so happens that this time the sections that they've asked for mostly line up with the sections that are in the Baxtresser book. I'm using the full part of the Mendelssohn Scherzo, for example, because they've asked for the entire movement, and for the Beethoven 7 excerpt, which is not included in the book. The standard excerpt books have most of what is asked at auditions, but having the full parts is useful when they ask for less-common bits.

When I'm preparing for an audition, I like to make a notebook with photocopies (either from an excerpt book or from the actual part) of only the parts of the music that I have to prepare. It helps me stay focused/keep from getting overwhelmed. So if you're asking literally, I'm working from the notebook I made for this audition.
